Ned Balbo has given readings or lectures at many colleges and universities, including University of Notre Dame, Washington and Lee University, Saint Joseph’s University (Philadelphia), SUNY at Old Westbury, Iowa State University, Loyola University Maryland, Salisbury University, Adelphi University, Gettysburg College, and more, either solo or in joint visits with his partner, poet and essayist Jane Satterfield.
He has served as reader, panelist or workshop leader at several writers’ conferences, including Poetry by the Sea, the West Chester University Poetry Conference, the Baltimore Writers’ Conference, and Writing the Rockies where he and Jane were joint keynote speakers in 2018.
Ned’s work reflects a lifelong commitment to poetry and the arts. Topics for in-person or Zoom workshops (solo or joint) have included ekphrastic poetry, ecopoetry, poetry on popular culture, form in free verse or meter, and more. Ned is also an editor who has used his experience and knowledge of craft to help shape and assemble more than a dozen published books by other poets.
